Nothing comes between Lorelei Pettigrew and her whip…until a handsome newspaperman from NY arrives on the scene with a story on his agenda and seduction on his mind.

When a saloon siren, Lorelei Pettigrew, crosses paths with the latest handsome man to arrive in Tombstone, her passion knows no boundaries. James Melton, a newspaperman from New York, ventures to this sinful silver town looking for a story but finds romance and redemption instead. When Lorelei’s life is threatened, James vows to protect the spirited temptress and deliver her from harm. He’s always preferred dalliances to husbandly duty, but after a short time in Lorelei’s company, James’s mind and life change forever.

He proposes marriage, but her former lover proposes death for any man who steals his woman. The two men square off. When the dust clears, one is heading to the gallows while the other is heading to the altar. Filled with unbridled trysts, bawdy brothel characters, and more grit than could be culled from the streets of any boomtown, TAMING THE TEMPTRESS keeps tensions high and drawers down. © Shawna Moore.

Excerpt...
The liquor James had consumed soured in his stomach. What a carnal invitation. True, he fantasized about fucking her from the minute they met, but on the stage of this crowded, smelly saloon? Surely, she wasn’t serious?

He rose from the stool, his soles slapping hard against the floor. Only one way to find out.

With each stage step he climbed, his cock threatened to rip through the woolen trousers. Ribald comments and hearty cheers filled the smoky air.

Lorelei’s smile urged him onward. One lick, then two, her tongue teased before disappearing between those lips made for kissing. Standing beside her, he caressed her shoulder for a brief moment before withdrawing his touch. Is a moment of passion all she wanted from him?

Thwack.

The end of the whip flailed the shiny toe of his leather boot. Before he could blink, it slithered away.

“You’ve decided to play with me tonight?”

“Can’t resist.”

Lorelei cast aside the whip. “Won’t be needing that after all. I don’t think you’ll be too hard to handle. I’ve ridden lots of horses in my life. Takes a lot to throw me off.”

Laughter erupted from the audience. This woman knew how to work a man into a sweat. Did she always get what she wanted?

“No saddles up here?”

“Don’t need one when I ride.” Deep within her blue eyes, the devil danced. “How’s about we share a song?”

Singing? She wanted to warble her way into his heart?

“Birds sing sweetest when they’re free. Are you?” He nodded in the direction of the theater boxes where whores pleasured men behind the dark red velvet drapes.

With each breath she took, Lorelei’s breasts threatened to burst free from her bodice. If she hit those high notes, he’d get the best view in the whole damned house.

“I don’t belong to anybody…let alone one man. Maybe never will.” Gone was any demureness in her posturing and expression, replaced now with a blazing blue gaze that sliced right though to his soul. “Don’t forget that, and we’ll get along just fine.” She blew him a kiss and waved to the balding man seated at the house piano. “Give us my favorite, George. Tonight, I’ll let my lover serenade me.”

Of course, he should have guessed. Her lover for one lousy act. If things went well, he’d press her to prolong their contact. Not a bad way to spend an evening, or the rest of his time here. He could satisfy his sexual appetite and get his story at the same time. Before he left Tombstone, he’d have lots of memories stored away.

After only a few notes, he recognized the stirring ballad—“Beautiful Dreamer”. A few of the drunken men in front hummed loudly off-key.

All went well until he reached the third verse. Her cheeks shone like the most precious rose bloom. With each word he sang, her flying fingers unlaced the bodice of her gown, revealing enough of her breasts to make his cock twist. He drifted his gaze over the bounty of flesh. No frilly lace. Gone was the corset she’d worn earlier. Seduce me while you can, sweet lady. Later, I’ll show you a time you won’t forget.

Another shrug of her shoulders caused the gown to droop, and one rosy nipple popped into view. Words clogged in his throat, and he swallowed them back down. Several men rushed toward the stage, only to be restrained by others.

Her slender fingers caressed the creamy skin. As her tongue traced along her pink lips, she pinched her nipples. Her calm blue stare turned scalding as she raked it over his face. Down, down those eyes searched until they landed on his silver belt buckle. He sang even louder and avoided eye contact. She mustn’t win this battle of sexual wills.

“Hmmm, hhhm, hhhmmm, hhhmm, hmmm, out on the sea.”

The satin of her gown whispered as she rubbed her soft body against him. Jasmine, dabbed deep into her cleavage, rose up and filled his nostrils. His brain screamed for salvation, but his body ruled otherwise. Her left hand tapped his crotch with the riding crop, while the other knitted through his hair. Damn and double damn. For all that made sense, why didn’t she get rid of that horrible thing? Was that crop part of the act? His balls stirred.

Imagine her with the leather braided around her slim wrists secured to the sturdy headboard on the bed in his hotel room. Her unfettered legs could kick and thrash all they wanted, but those tapered fingernails would only get in the way of things.

“Continue.” The word fanned from between her wet lips and landed between the pearl buttons of his vest. “I want to mount you. Ride you like you’ve never been ridden before. You can put your cock where you please. I don’t care. Long as you don’t toss me out into the winter night, I’ll keep you warm and hard until the sun rises.”

What was hardest—her will, finishing this silly song, or his cock? “Mermaids are chanting, the wild lorelei…”

The riding crop hissed and snapped as it made contact with his leg. “This is where you’ll stop singin’ and I’ll start bringin’ you to your knees, Mister James.” © Shawna Moore

Reviews...
"I finished your book Taming the Temptress this weekend! I really enjoyed it and you surely captured the old west in it and it was also very sizzling hot I might add! Excellent! Thanks for the introduction into erotic stories! You are a delightful storyteller and I savored every word on each page." Kelly C., reader in British Columbia.

"Taming the Temptress is a poignant novel. From the moment James sets eyes on Lorelei we see her as a most strong woman, full of spirit and determination. Men have treated her badly in her years but she maintains her strength the best she can. James admires that she has been able to keep her sweetness. He is there to get a story for his newspaper but he cannot fight the strong urges that he begins having for Lorelei. Ms. Moore illustrates a picturesque life of what it was like in the Old West with hard times and what impact it played upon the woman as she was made to feel as a possession or a section of property. The characters are quite believable and the dialogue superb. Ms. Moore has depicted Lorelei with courage, tender emotions and a powerful resolution that melts the heartstrings. I enjoyed reading about James and Lorelei as their love for each other allowed them to earn each other's trust." -- 5 Hearts, Linda, The Romance Studio Blue.

"Taming the Temptress is a rip-roaring and saucy tale of the old west with its true to life gun battles, saloons and sexy ladies. Shawna Moore has mixed romance and the old west together for a steamy hot read. Cudos!" -- Tee, Enchanted in Romance.

"This is a very moving book. Lorelei is a woman that has not let difficult times and situations make her hard. She has fought to protect herself in a harsh, cold world. The author paints a very real picture of what life was like in the Old West. A woman was just a piece of property to most. The love and lust that James and Lorelei feel for one another is a very foreign emotion for both. Great dialogue and a moving love story will make this book a definite keeper." - Tewanda, FAR.

"Taming the Temptress is a rip-roaring tale of a romance in the style of the Old West in all its glory. There is little softness to be found in either hero or heroine; yet, I find myself drawn to them both because of their strengths and taciturn attitudes. Ms. Moore makes me believe that love can be found at a time when and in a place where trust and honesty are in short supply and no one has good reason to display either virtue. This story left me with a smile on my face and the urge to share it with my friends." - Keely Skillman, E-cataRomance Reviews.

"James and Lorelei are enchanting characters with well developed personalities. They are opposites in some ways and yet they complement each other very well. Their relationship progresses at a realistic pace. The way the emotional connection between them develops is fascinating to watch. The love scenes are hotter than a firecracker and left me breathless. The language used in the book is appropriate to the time period. The setting is nicely described and appropriate to the storyline.

Ms. Moore has written a tale of love and lust in the old West that I enjoyed greatly. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Western style romance with detailed love scenes. Taming the Temptress is most definitely a keeper!
" - Susan White, Coffee Time Romance.

"Lorelei is a remarkably written character. Her emotions are genuine and really pull at the reader’s heartstrings. I'm not sure I have ever read a romance where the heroine is really a prostitute. But, although Lorelei manages to avoid sleeping with some patrons, she definitely does have sex for money. James expects the worst of Lorelei because of what she does for a living. Likewise, Lorelei thinks James will be like every other man she’s known and walk away after he gets what he wants. They each have to earn the other’s trust.

Ms. Moore has penned a brilliant combination of Western romance and erotica. Taming the Temptress is a gritty, erotic romance that doesn’t candy-coat the harsh reality of life for some women in the old West. I highly recommend this touching, yet very erotic love story.

"TAMING THE TEMPTRESS by Shawna Moore is a bawdy and entertaining tale, which shows that finding real love can happen for everyone. If you enjoy erotica romance mixed with a good western story, then TAMING THE TEMPTRESS is just the book for you." - Reviewed by Nadine, Romance Junkies.

"Taming The Temptress is a raw and gutsy love story. It’s a gritty, realistic and romantic look at love found in the most unusual of places. One that starts with little polish, depicting 1882 in a realistic way and exposes the reality of what the west was like. The language and setting are true to the era: earthy, forthright, with no frills. Although these two characters are initially in lust with each other their attraction grows into love. Both James and Lorelei develop and grow as people as the story progresses, demonstrating their growth as characters. James displays such love and patience for this courageous woman that I wanted to hug him. Lorelei shows such strength of character, independence and determination to survive her conditions, that my initial dislike of her as a heroine was changed by the time I finished reading Taming The Temptress. Some of the scenes between James and Lorelei were sizzling and bawdy. I enjoyed the gritty look of the old west that Ms. Moore writes about. Some of the tidbits of information gleaned from the book give it a true historical feeling and the interesting characters peppered in this story give it added life and verve. Set two weeks prior to Valentine’s Day this would make a rewarding gift for you to read over a weekend." - Aggie Tsirikas, Just Erotic Romance Reviews.
