With each shovel-full of snow Chance flung away from the gate, she shivered. His breath came out in fogged bursts. She opened the window a bit. He sang about being a jolly, happy soul. But Chance wasn't the type to sport a corncob pipe, and his nose was pleasant, not button-size at all.

She closed the window and closed her eyes. Their meeting at the Winter Carnival was the stuff of which storybooks are made. Chance had steadied her as they skated over the pond, telling her jokes and about his love of hiking and outdoor sports. He'd also mentioned a ski trip he'd planned for that weekend.

The ski trip he cancelled and instead spent a weekend getaway with her visiting an art gallery, touring a winery and enjoying two romantic Italian dinners among other things.

Her door opened. She blinked and pitched sideways. Chance caught her and eased her descent into a smaller snowdrift. His cheeks shone pink, but it wasn't any use telling him of his flush. Rugged men like Chance were born hunters and providers. His Alpha carried through to his core, but it was so heartening when his softer side surfaced.

Freeing herself from his grasp, she skirted the snow-crusted bumper. Her feet left the ground as Chance hauled her into arms that loaded lumber and more for his business customers six days a week.

"Can't have you falling down. I'll carry you until we're inside the gate." The wide grin parted his kissable lips. Lips still faintly scented from the mulling spices.

Marla looked at the sky. Snowflakes teased her cheeks and lips, bestowing icy pecks before melting into oblivion. "Are you forgetting I'm not the one who almost fell while removing ice skates?"

His warm, hearty laugh hit her face. "But only because someone bumped me from behind." He bounced her and, when she settled, played vampire with her neck. "Otherwise, nothing will ever knock me off my feet."

"Nothing?" Stop challenging him. Bachelors don't like having their commitment buttons pushed.

"Well..." He winked, sneaked through the open gate, and deposited her on the snow-covered driveway. "Almost nothing." ©Kimberly Grant

Reviews...

"Miracles and Mistletoe" contains all of the sights and sounds of Christmas in such vivid detail! Kimberly Grant's wonderful imagery of Christmas truly showcases her phenomenal writing talent. Her skill at evoking strong emotions is very apparent as one can feel Marla's deep anguish over the potential test results. What a powerful story!" Deborah Wiley, Amazon Reviewer.

"Marla wanted more than anything a future with the most thrilling man she'd ever met, Chance Yardley. Would a raging blizzard and Marla's latest medical test results keep them from truly enjoying a very special Christmas and life together? *** Ms. Grant packs a terrific punch in this powerfully moving story. Very nice." -- Marilyn Rondeau, RIO.
